AEW President Tony Khan has advised his roster against going into business for themselves, amid reports of backstage conflicts within the company.
It has been reported over the past month that internal conflicts within AEW have been growing, culminating in Khan holding a backstage meeting prior to last week’s Dynamite.
During the August 17, 2022, AEW Dynamite, CM Punk went off-script to challenge ‘Hangman’ Adam Page to a match, aware that he was not scheduled for the show.
Punk branded Page a coward in a moment that was not part of the schedule for the show.
While speaking to Forbes, Khan said that talent going into business for themselves only hurts AEW.
“I was saying to them and a number of people [who spoke at the meeting] were making a point….[to] all the wrestlers and TV talent that it does not serve us well if anybody goes into business for themselves.”
Punk will challenge AEW Undisputed World Champion Jon Moxley at this Sunday’s AEW All Out 2022 Pay Per View.
